Sigma-Aldrich Sees Fourth-Quarter Sales Drop

Sigma-Aldrich’s sales for the fourth-quarter were $510 million, a 4% decline from the same period in 2007, the company reported last week. Sales for fine chemicals unit Sigma-Aldrich Fine Chemicals (SAFC) were “in-line with prior year levels,” the company says. Earnings for the fourth-quarter amounted to 68 cts/share. The company’s quarterly dividend was declared at 14.5 cts/share. Full-year sales for 2008 grew by 8% to $2.2 billion, with SAFC’s sales up 6%.
