Reports: Mosaic lays off 51 workers because of potash market constraint

According to Reuters reports, Mosiac says it has laid off 51 of its Canadian potash operation workers because of low prices and weak demand in the potash market. The market has slumped ever since the collapse of cartel Belarusian Potash Co., in July 2013. The cartel had controlled the majority of the world's potash prior to the split. Mosaic spokesman Rob Litt says the layoffs are spread out among the company's operations in the western province of Saskatchewan, which include three potash mines and an office for the potash segment.
