PolyOne tops estimates, forecasts double-digit growth in fourth quarter

Higher margins and a better product mix lifted PolyOne’s third-quarter earnings above year-ago levels and analysts’ estimates, and, in stark contrast to many chemical firms reporting this week, the company says it expects double-digit earnings growth in the current quarter. PolyOne reported net income of $24 million for the quarter ended 30 September 2012, 11% higher than the year-ago period. Excluding onetime items, earnings increased 27%, to 33 cts/share.
