Otsuka Chemical establishes US subsidiary for fiber-free potassium titanate manufacture

Otsuka Chemical says it has established a US subsidiary to build a manufacturing plant at Griffin, GA, to produce the company’s fiber-free potassium titanate product line. The products have been subject to increasing demand in automotive brake pad applications, Otsuka says. The new plant—Otsuka’s third for fiber-free potassium titanate, after plants in China and Japan—will have a capacity of about 2,000 m.t./year and come onstream in November 2015, the company says.
