NJ Senator Frank Lautenberg passes away at 89

Senator Frank Lautenberg (D., NJ), a long-time advocate for chemicals management reform and more stringent environmental protection, passed away this morning from complications from viral pneumonia, according to a statement from his office. He was 89 years old. Lautenberg announced in February that he would not seek a sixth term in the Senate but still outlined out an agenda for the remainder of his term that included reforming the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
