Mitsui Chemicals acquires Corning’s photochromic lens material business

Mitsui Chemicals says it has acquired the SunSensors photochromic lens business of Corning (Corning, NY). Financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed. Through the acquisition, Mitsui aims to bolster its ophthalmic lens material business while breaking into the rapidly growing global photochromic lens market, the company says. Photochromic lenses are transparent lenses which darken when exposed to ultraviolet light.
