Mitsubishi Rayon Updates Progress on MMA and MAA Plants in Texas

Mitsubishi Rayon and its Lucite International (Southampton, U.K.) subsidiary say plans are progressing to boost methyl methacrylate (MMA) capacity by 150,000 m.t./year per at the company’s Beaumont, TX facility. The company restarted the once-idled plant in 2011.   The plant has the capacity to produce about 390,000 m.t./year of MMA, but operated at reduced rates throughout 2011. Lucite is also adding new feedstock capacity at the plant, ending the company’s need to externally source raw materials, including ethylene, methanol and carbon...
