Mexichem and OxyChem sign agreement for cracker project in Texas

Mexichem (Tlalnepantla, Mexico) and OxyChem say that they have formed a 50-50 joint venture, Ingleside Ethylene, for the construction of the previously announced cracker at OxyChem’s Ingleside, TX, facility, to produce about 550,000 m.t./year of ethylene, and that the project will include pipelines and storage at Markham, TX. The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding for the project in August 2012. The cracker project is expected to involve a total investment of about $1.5 billion, say press reports.
