Maine DEP recommends board reject BPA petition

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) says it will recommend to its board that it reject a citizens' petition for a ban on the use of bisphenol A (BPA) in packaging for all toddler food sold in the state. In a 19-page memorandum, DEP officials explain the decision is part due to difficulties related to classifying "toddler food intended for children younger than 3 years of age," as well as any available alternatives.
