MTI raises Amcol bid to $45.75/share

Mineral Technologies (MTI) announced this morning that it has raised its bid to acquire bentonite and minerals producer Amcol to $45.75/share, beating Imerys’s latest bid of $45.25/share. The bid is the latest salvo in a competition between MTI and Imerys for the company, which started when MTI launched a $42/share bid last month. Imerys and Amcol already have a merger agreement in place, dating to 11 February, and Imerys has raised its bid twice in response to MTI’s offers.
