Kuraray to Boost U.S. Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol Copolymer Capacity

Kuraray says it will invest about ¥4 billion ($51 million) to boost ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVAL) production capacity at its Pasadena, TX facility by 12,000 m.t./year. The site currently has the capacity to produce about 37,000 m.t./year of EVAL. The expansion is expected to come onstream in January 2014, the company says. Previously, the increase in EVAL demand has been centered primarily in industrialized nations, such as Japan and the United States as well as those in Europe.
