Kraton earnings fall YOY

Kraton Performance Polymers (Houston) on Wednesday reported adjusted earnings per share of 7 cts/share, down 86% year-over-year (YOY) and well below the analyst consensus estimate of 28 cts/share. Revenue for the quarter fell 17%  YOY to $340 million. Sales volume fell 13% YOY to 78,000 tons. Kraton attributed the substantial declines in volume and revenue to unusually heavy demand in the year-ago period, the result of a butadiene-driven destocking in the fourth quarter of 2011.
