Koppers reports record railroad and utility earnings in fourth quarter

Koppers Holdings reports net income of $13.6 million—up from a loss of $14.2 million. Reported earnings of 66 cts/share were above analyst estimates of 60 cts/share, as reported by Thomson Reuters (New York), and exclude $300,000 of after-tax charges related to plant closure costs. The increase in earnings is partially due to a lower effective tax rate combined with record earnings in the company’s railroad and utility products (RUP) segment.
