Invista signs second biobased butadiene development deal

Seattle biocatalysis firm Arzeda says it has entered into a collaboration with Invista to develop a biobased route to a butadiene, a key raw material that is increasingly in short supply. Although still in the early stages of development, Invista tells CW it expects to begin commercializing the technology in 2016. The agreement leverages Invista's existing capabilities in biotechnology and catalysis and Arzeda's synthetic biology and enzyme design expertise.
