Georgia Gulf's Loss Widens; Company Idles Two PVC Resin Plants

Georgia Gulf reported a net loss of $69.5 million in the first-quarter, compared to a net loss of $34.6 million in the year-ago quarter. The most recent quarter includes charges totaling $26.1 million related to the closure of its 500 million lbs/year polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin plant at Oklahoma City, the sale of its outdoor storage buildings business for $13 million, and other restructuring actions.
