Former Dow executive settles SEC charges

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced today that a former Dow Chemical IT executive has agreed to pay $367,250 civil penalty to settle charges SEC charges of insider trading ahead of Dow’s 2008 announcement of the $18.8-billion acquisition of Rohm and Haas. The SEC charged Mack Murrell, who was v.p./information systems for Dow, with unlawfully tipping material, non-public information to a long-time friend in advance of Dow's 10 July 2008 announcement of the planned acquisition of Rohm and Haas.
