Chemicals sector rail traffic rises 4.1%

Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 4.1% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 13 July, to 41,681 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was up 3.4%, to 29,882 cars. Canadian traffic increased 5.6%, to 10,320 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 6.8%, to 1,479 cars. Overall, North American freight rail traffic declined 2.8% YOY during the week ended 13 July, to 367,713 cars, AAR says. Year-to-date, the North American chemicals sector has generated 1,196,702 cars of rail traffic, up 2.4% from 2012...
