Regions :: North America :: U.S. Chemicals sector rail traffic rises 3.6%11:53 AM MST | November 16, 2012 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 3.6% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 10 November, to 41,159 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was up 2.5%, to 29,539 cars. Canadian traffic rose 5.6%, to 10,378 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 14.9%, to 1,242 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week’s totals, though it fell in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic fell 4% YOY during the week ended 10 November, to 374,777 cars, AAR says.
