Regions :: North America :: U.S. Chemicals sector rail traffic falls 4.1%11:06 AM MST | November 21, 2012 | Vincent Valk North American chemicals sector rail traffic declined 4.1% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 17 November, to 38,835 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was down 2.9%, to 29,080 cars. Canadian traffic fell 9.6%, to 9,451 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 14.8%, to 1,304 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week’s totals, though it rose in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic fell 2.5% YOY during the week ended 17 November, to 382,766 cars.
