Celanese net income slips on weak acetyls

Celanese reported third-quarter net income of $117 million, a decline of 30% from the year-ago quarter on weak acetyls demand and margins. Sales declined 11%, to $1.8 billion. Adjusted earnings were 93 cts/share, down 27% from the year-ago quarter, but 3 cts above the midpoint of analyst estimates as reported by Thomson Reuters (New York).
