Calgon Carbon earnings up 19%

Calgon Carbon reported second-quarter net income of  $13 million, up 19% year-over-year, noting the positive effects from its cost improvement program on earnings. The company reported diluted earnings of 24 cts/share, up 26% YOY, and above analyst estimates of 21 cts/share, according to Thomson Reuters (New York). Sales, however, fell 5%, to $140.4 million.
