CF Industries reports sales, earnings drop on low phosphate volumes

CF Industries reported second-quarter net income of $498.2 million—down 17% year-over-year (YOY). The company reported earnings of $8.38./share, down 10% YOY but above analyst estimates of $7.64/share, as reported by Thomson Reuters (New York). Earnings results include $18 million of pre-tax unrealized losses on natural gas derivatives and $4.0 million of pre-tax gains on foreign currency derivatives, the company says.
