BMW and SGL Group to triple carbon fiber capacity at Moses Lake plant

SGL Automotive Carbon Fibers and BMW Group said on Friday that they intend to invest $200 million to triple carbon fiber capacity at their Moses Lake, WA plant, to cope with high demand from the automotive sector. The announcement was made at the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion. The companies have already invested $100 million in the facility.    The Moses Lake plant currently operates two production lines, exclusively for the BMW i model, with an annual output of approximately 3,000 m.t./year of carbon fiber.
