Arkema to market PMMA/PLA alloy

Arkema and NatureWorks (Blair, NE) say they have signed a comarketing agreement for high-performance alloys incorporating NatureWorks' biobased polylactic acid (PLA) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) produced by Arkema subsidiary Altuglas. Primary marketing efforts will be in durable goods applications, the companies say. PMMA, trade named Plexigas, has optical properties superior to that of glass and is widely used across numerous industries, Arkema says.
