ACC forecasts US chemicals growth of 1.9% in 2013

US chemical output excluding pharmaceuticals is expected to improve modestly in 2013 with a 1.9% advance, up from a 1.5% gain this year, according to ACC’s Year-End 2012 Situation and Outlook report. The softening of the manufacturing recovery has dampened US chemical demand and recession in Europe and weakness elsewhere have hindered export sales, says Kevin Swift, ACC’s chief economist.
