Taiwan's Far Eastern Group eyes petrochemical investments in the United States

Taiwan’s conglomerate Far Eastern Group (Taipei) is looking to invest in petrochemicals in the United States to benefit from cheap shale feedstock, CW has learned. Company sources told CW on the sidelines of the Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference in Taipei that potential projects include production of para-xylene and purified terephthalic acid (PTA), an investment which is being pursued by Far Eastern subsidiary Oriental Petrochemical, and a project to either manufacture or offtake ethylene, which would be implemented by Oriental Union Chemical (OUCC)...
