Regions :: North America :: Mexico Rail Traffic Rises 30.7%; Records Overall Monthly Increase2:20 PM MDT | April 15, 2010 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 30.7% year-on-year last week, to 45.039 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 26%, to 29,467 cars. Canadian traffic rose 42.8%, to 14,372 cars, while Mexican traffic was up 18.8%, to 1,200 cars. Traffic in the U.S. and Canada rose from the prior week's totals. In March, overall U.S. freight rail traffic recorded its first monthly year-on-year gain since July 2008, AAR says.
