Pemex starts upgrade of urea plant

Upgrading work at Petróleos Mexicanos's (Pemex; Mexico City) urea plant at Pajaritos, Mexico, has started, Pemex says. The work will boost the plant's urea production capacity to almost 1 million m.t./year, the company says. The current capacity has not been disclosed. The additional production is expected to help substitute the $400 million that Mexico annually spends on urea imports, Pemex says. The expanded plant is scheduled to be operational in 2015.
