Regions :: North America :: Mexico North American Rail Traffic Down for the Week Ended October 24, 20092:29 PM MDT | October 29, 2009 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America fell 5.3%, to 40,434 cars, last week, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR). U.S. traffic was down 1.9%, to 26,851 cars. Canadian traffic dropped 14.9%, to 12,381 cars, while Mexican traffic was up 60.7%, to 1,202 cars. However, traffic increased from the prior week's totals, AAR says. Year-to-date the North American chemicals sector has seen 1,640,613 cars of rail traffic, a 15.4% drop from 2008 levels.
