Regions :: North America :: Mexico North American Rail Traffic Down for Week Ended October 3, 20091:37 PM MDT | October 8, 2009 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America was down 4.2% year-on-year last week, to 42,608 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR). U.S. traffic fell 2.7%, to 28,008 cars. Canadian traffic fell 7.6% to 13,580 cars, while Mexican traffic was up 3.1% to 1,020 cars. The figures for North America and the U.S. are both sequential improvements from the prior week's totals, according to AAR. Year-to-date, the North American chemicals sector has seen 1,521,499 cars of rail traffic, a 15.9% decline from 2008. Overall fright rail traffic was down...
