North American Rail Traffic Down for Week Ended October 3, 2009

Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America was down 4.2% year-on-year last week, to 42,608 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR). U.S. traffic fell 2.7%, to 28,008 cars. Canadian traffic fell 7.6% to 13,580 cars, while Mexican traffic was up 3.1% to 1,020 cars. The figures for North America and the U.S. are both sequential improvements from the prior week's totals, according to AAR.
