Regions :: North America :: Mexico North American Rail Traffic Down for Week Ended November 7, 20093:53 PM MST | November 12, 2009 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America was down 2% last week, to 40,167 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR). U.S. traffic declined 1.6%, to 26,122 cars. Canadian traffic fell 4.1%, to 12,937 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 19.3% to 1,108 cars, AAR says. All figures were declines from the prior week's totals. Year-to-date, the North American chemicals sector has seen 1,722,877 cars of rail traffic, a 14.8% drop from 2008 levels.
