Regions :: North America :: Mexico Chemicals sector rail traffic rises 1.8%5:05 PM MDT | October 11, 2012 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 1.8% during the week ended 6 October, to 41,488 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 1.4%, to 29,768 cars. Canadian traffic was up 0.5%, to 10,251 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 19.4%, to 1,469 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week’s totals, though it rose in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic declined 4.7% during the week ended 6 October, to 378,718 cars, AAR says.
