Chemicals sector rail traffic declines 0.4%

Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America fell 0.4% year-on-year (YOY), to 42,338 cars, during the week ended 8 February, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was up 3.4%, to 30,844 cars. Canadian traffic declined 10.4%, to 10,257 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 0.8%, to 1,237 cars. Overall, North American freight rail traffic declined 5.9% YOY during the week ended 8 February, to 345,728 cars. Year-to-date, the North American chemicals sector has generated 250,056 cars of rail traffic, up 0.5% from 2013...
