Regions :: North America :: Mexico Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 8.4%9:36 AM MDT | August 20, 2010 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 8.4% year-on-year last week, to 44,769 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 6.8%, to 29,385 cars. Canadian traffic rose 13.8%, to 14,200 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 9.5%, to 1,184 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 9.2% last week, to 383,135 cars. U.S. intermodal traffic recorded the best week thus far this year, though it remained down a bit from 2008 levels, AAR says. Year-to-date...
