Regions :: North America :: Mexico Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 5%3:43 PM MDT | May 12, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 5% year-on-year last week, to 42,836 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR) says. U.S. traffic was up 2.3%, to 30,175 cars. Canadian traffic rose 11.2%, to 11,329 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 16.7%, to 1,332 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week's totals, though it rose in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic fell 1% year-on-year, to 374,236 cars, AAR says.
