Regions :: North America :: Mexico Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 4.5%9:35 AM MDT | July 8, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 4.5% year-on-year last week, to 42,447 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reports. U.S. traffic was up 2.3%, to 31,212 cars. Canadian traffic rose 12.5% to 10,275 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 2.1% to 960 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals, though it fell in Canada and Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 1.8% year-on-year last week, to 374,732 cars, AAR says.
