Regions :: North America :: Mexico Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 2.8%5:47 PM MDT | August 18, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 2.8% year-on-year last week, to 41,197 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 1.2%, to 29,682 cars. Canadian traffic rose 6.2%, to 10.191 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 13.1%, to 1,324 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals. Overall, North American freight rail traffic fell 0.4% year-on-year last week, to 381,887 cars.
