Regions :: North America :: Mexico Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 11.1%3:27 PM MDT | July 29, 2010 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 11.1% year-on-year last week, to 43,727 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported. U.S. traffic was up 7.7%, to 28,752 cars. Canadian traffic rose 21.2%, to 13,968 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 13.6% to 1,007 cars. Traffic fell slightly from the prior week's totals, though Canadian traffic rose. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 7.5% year-on-year last week, to 373,381 cars.
