Regions :: North America :: Mexico Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 0.2%11:31 AM MDT | September 14, 2012 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 0.2% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended September 8, to 39,353 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 1.1%, to 27,480 cars. Canadian traffic fell 2.6%, to 10,556 cars, while Mexican traffic increased 5.7%, to 1,317 cars. Traffic declined from the prior week’s totals, though it rose in Canada. Overall, North American freight rail traffic fell 1.1% YOY during the week ended September 8, to 363,262 cars, AAR says.
