Regions :: North America :: Mexico Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Falls 0.9%12:30 PM MDT | October 21, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America fell 0.9% year-on-year for the week ended October 15, to 40,510 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 0.9%, to 28,882 cars. Canadian traffic fell 7.3%, to 10,438 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 16.8% to 1,280 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week’s totals, though it rose in Canada. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 0.5% year-on-year during the week ended October 15, to 397,766 cars, AAR says.
