Regions :: North America :: Mexico Chemical Sector Rail Traffic Rises 21.9%5:16 PM MDT | July 8, 2010 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 21.9% year-on-year last week, to 44,811 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 22.5% to 30,536 cars. Canadian traffic rose 23.3% to 13,237 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 5% to 1,038 cars. Traffic generally rose from the prior week's totals. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 19.4% year-on-year last week, to 369,682 cars.
