Chemicals sector rail traffic rises 5.9%

Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 5.9% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 2 November, to 42,050 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was up 5.3%, to 30,095 cars. Canadian traffic rose 10.6%, to 10,884 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 16.7%, to 1,071 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week’s totals, though it rose in the US. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 5.3% YOY during the week ended 2 November, to 389,679 cars, AAR says.
