Chemicals sector rail traffic rises 4%

North American chemicals sector rail traffic increased 4% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 26 October, to 42,547 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was up 3.7%, to 29,874 cars. Canadian traffic rose 6.1%, to 11,440 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 8.4%, to 1,233 cars. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 1.8% YOY during the week ended 26 October, to 390,350 cars, AAR says. Year-to-date, the North American chemicals sector has generated 1,924,990 cars of rail traffic, up 2.5% from 2012...
