Chemicals sector rail traffic rises 4.3%

North American chemicals sector rail traffic increased 4.3% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 12 October, to 42,314 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was up 1.9%, to 29,653 cars. Canadian traffic rose 13.2%, to 11,413 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 10.8%, to 1,248 cars. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 2% YOY during the week ended 12 October, 384,450 cars. Year-to-date, the North American chemicals sector has generated 1,739,597 cars of rail traffic, up 2.3% from 2012...
