Regions :: North America :: Canada Rail Traffic Ends Year on High Note11:38 AM MST | January 7, 2010 | Vincent Valk North American chemicals sector rail traffic rose 16.9% during the week ended January 2, to 39,742 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR). U.S. traffic was up 19.5%, to 26,143 cars. Canadian traffic rose 12.5% to 12,722 cars, while Mexican traffic was up 8.1%, to 877 cars. Traffic in the U.S. and Canada rose from the prior week's totals. For the year 2009, chemicals sector rail traffic in North America fell 11.6%, to 2,044,554 cars.
