Regions :: North America :: Canada Possible Sale of Shell's Montreal Refinery Disintegrates; Plan for Fuel Terminal Moves Forward11:00 AM MDT | August 3, 2010 | Lindsey Bewley Royal Dutch Shell says it will go ahead with previously announced plans to close its 130,000-bpd refinery at Montreal East and convert the site to a fuel terminal that will receive gasoline, diesel and aviation fuels after negotiations with a potential buyer fell through. The refinery also has the capacity to produce about 55,000 m.t./year of propylene. Shell announced in January the refinery no longer fit the company’s long-term strategy and that it would place the refinery up for auction. The company was in talks with downstream energy company...
