Regions :: North America :: Canada North American Rail Traffic Up for Week Ended September 5, 20093:26 PM MDT | September 10, 2009 | Vincent Valk Last week, North American chemicals sector rail traffic increased by 7.7% year-on-year, to 42,739 cars, according to figures from the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington, DC). U.S. traffic was up 11.4% for the same week, to 28,906 cars. Both figures represented declines from last week's totals, however, traffic is typically a bit low in the week preceding the Labor Day holiday in the U.S., AAR notes. Year-to-date chemical rail traffic has totaled 1,359,432 cars, a decline of 17.1% from 2008, AAR says. Canadian traffic remained relatively flat...
