Regions :: North America :: Canada North American Rail Traffic Down for Week Ended October 10, 200910:36 AM MDT | October 16, 2009 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America was down 7.6% last week, to 39,756 cars. U.S. traffic declined 5%, to 26,428 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR). Canadian traffic fell 16.1% to 12,113 cars, and Mexican traffic rose 51.5% to 1,215 cars. Traffic in the North America as a whole and the U.S. declined sequentially from the prior week's totals, AAR says. Year-to-date, the North American chemicals sector has seen 1,561,255 cars of rail traffic, a 15.7% decline from 2008. Overall, freight rail traffic totaled 352,763 cars last...
