Regions :: North America :: Canada Chemicals sector rail traffic rises 5.6%3:35 PM MST | December 13, 2012 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 5.6% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 8 December, to 41,768 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was up 5%, to 29,470 cars. Canadian traffic rose 6.3%, to 11,025 cars, while Mexican traffic increased 12.2%, to 1,273 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week’s totals, though it rose in Canada. Overall, North American freight rail traffic was up 0.3% YOY during the week ended 8 December, to 387,806 cars.
