Chemicals sector rail traffic rises 1.7%

Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 1.7% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 4 May, to 44,540 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was down 0.1%, to 30,446 cars. Canadian traffic rose 2.6%, to 12,498 cars, while Mexican traffic increased 38.4%, to 1,596 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week’s totals.
